About Us

Perley Lutheran Parish consists of two congregations, Kirkebo Lutheran in the small town of Perley, MN, and Nora Lutheran Church, out in the country, 5 1/2 miles east of Gardner, ND.

These two congregations have been joined for most of more than 100 years, and although they function independently, they cooperate in so many ways, including the sharing of a pastor.

These congregations are affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and are a part of the Northwestern Minnesota Synod of the ELCA.

To become a member of either Kirkebo or Nora, one needs to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord of his/her life, and:

  1. Believe that the congregation is a Christian fellowship;
  2. Believe that he/she/they can grow in his/her relationship to Christ as a member of the congregation; and
  3. Believe that he/she/they can faithfully serve Christ as a member of the congregation.
It is not necessary to accept all particular Lutheran doctrines, or to agree with all policies of the ELCA. Also, it is certainly not necessary to renounce what one believes which is more typical of a different expression of the same Christian Faith. In Christ we embrace rather than challenge differing expressions of the Christian Church.
